Cat Scott is an artist, turned business owner, turned artist again.
Born and raised in Louisville, KY, art has always been a part of Cat’s life in some form or another. After studying Illustration and Graphic Design at the University of Dayton, she went on to work in design and web development for a decade. In her free time, she worked as a freelance illustrator and painter.
The entrepreneurial bug caught her at the same time motherhood came upon her—in 2014 she opened a yoga studio in Louisville (502 Power Yoga) when her daughter was 5 months old. Needless to say, the art supplies were put in storage while she focused her energy on business and parenting.
Another decade went by and the itch to return to her creative roots took hold. Slowly but surely the creative habit returned and Cat is able to marry her love of nature with her passion for art. But rather than attempting to render what she sees, she allows herself to be in the flow of creation, and the art-making itself becomes what her work is about. Overlapping layers and textures allow remnants of early mark-making to peek through, alluding to the evolution and development of the natural and man-made world.
